Water-Soluble Wash & Care Guide
Page content
Welcome to the Breeze Atelier Wash & Care Guide. Our peel-and-stick embroidery designs are printed on premium 100% biodegradable water-soluble stabilizer. Follow these simple steps to dissolve the paper stabilizer completely and keep your handmade embroidery looking vibrant wash after wash.
How to Dissolve the Stabilizer (4 Easy Steps)
- Submerge in Lukewarm Water: Once you finish stitching, place your finished fabric or garment into a bowl of lukewarm water (approx. 20°C–30°C / 68°F–86°F). Ensure the embroidered area is completely submerged.
- Soak for 3 to 5 Minutes: Let the item soak undisturbed. The self-adhesive paper will naturally begin to break down and dissolve into the water within minutes.
- Gently Rinse Under Running Water: Hold your embroidered piece under a gentle stream of lukewarm tap water to rinse away any remaining stabilizer solution. Gently massage with your fingertips if needed—the paper dissolves 100% with zero sticky residue or glue marks.
- Press & Dry: Lay the garment flat on a clean dry towel. Roll up the towel to press out excess moisture (do not wring out delicate threadwork). Reshape and air dry flat.
Care Tips for Embroidered Clothing & Accessories
- Denim Jackets, Jeans & Canvas Totes: Turn denim jackets and jeans inside out before machine washing on a gentle, cold cycle. For canvas tote bags, spot cleaning or gentle hand washing is recommended to preserve embroidery tension.
- Detergent: Use a mild liquid laundry detergent. Avoid bleach, harsh stain removers, or fabric softeners directly on hand embroidery.
- Ironing: If your fabric requires ironing after washing, place the garment face-down on a soft towel and iron on the reverse (back) side using a medium heat setting. This protects the raised thread stitches and maintains their 3D artisan texture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will the embroidery thread colors bleed into my fabric?
A: No. We use colorfast, double-mercerized 100% stranded cotton floss that has been wash-tested to ensure thread colors remain bright and will not bleed into surrounding fabrics.
Q: Can I use cold water to dissolve the stabilizer?
A: Yes! While lukewarm water dissolves the stabilizer in 3 to 5 minutes, cold water also dissolves it completely in about 6 to 8 minutes.
Q: Does the adhesive leave any sticky glue residue on garments?
A: Zero. The adhesive formula is 100% water-soluble PVA. Once rinsed, your fabric returns to its original natural softness with no stiff residue.
